The Dr. E.K. Adinkra Award for Excellence and Community Service will honour outstanding students and staff of the School of Medicine and the School of Public Health at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho.
Status: proposed to UHAS for the 2027/2028 academic year and subject to the University’s approval process. Details below may change.
Why this award
Dr. Adinkra combined academic excellence with a lifetime of service to patients who could least afford care. UHAS, the university nearest his hometown of Sokode Bagble, is the natural home for an award in his name. The Award rewards high achievement, encourages community health outreach and recognises the staff who make the Schools work.

How winners are chosen
- The Deans provide ranked academic records for student prizes, weighted about 70% on academic results and 30% on community service and leadership.
- Heads of Department, staff and students nominate candidates for the community service and staff prizes.
- A Joint Selection Committee, with representatives of both Schools, Human Resources and the Foundation, reviews candidates.
- University Management approves the winners, who receive their prizes at a University ceremony.
Staff prizes require at least two years’ continuous service at UHAS. Relatives of Foundation directors and committee members are not eligible.
